Pioneer Plastics Upgrades Lights, Gets Rebate on Project’s Cost
Plastics Business
To control rising energy costs, Pioneer Plastics recently completed a lighting upgrade and was able to take advantage of Kenergy’s commercial lighting rebate. The Dixon, KY, manufacturer’s lighting upgrade cost $54,610. Kenergy’s refund came to $20,664.
The plant’s former lighting system – 400-watt metal halide lights in the shop and T-12 florescent lights in the office – varied in age from 18 to 10 years. Pioneer Plastics’ electrical contractor replaced 286 aging lights with 276 energy-efficient models in a project that took about three weeks to complete.
