Jim Harbour, the late founder of Harbour and Associates, Inc., and The Harbour Report, recently was recognized by the Manufacturing Leadership Community with its second annual Lifetime Achievement Award during the 11th annual Manufacturing Leadership Award ceremony. The award, which recognizes manufacturing leaders who have had a profound and lasting impact on the industry, was accepted by Harbour’s daughters, Laurie and Diane Harbour.
He had a diverse career within the automotive and manufacturing industries. After 30 years of working directly for Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation, he formed Harbour and Associates, Inc., a consulting firm that assisted companies in improving their overall competitiveness. He then developed the Harbour Report, which can be credited with driving massive improvements in automotive manufacturing efficiency and performance.
His legacy continues to make an impact through many generous donations. In conjunction with Society of Manufacturing (SME), three scholarships totaling more than $7,800 were granted in 2015 to students looking to pursue careers in manufacturing. Additionally, two scholarships of more than $4,000 will be distributed through the American Mold Builders Association (ABMA).
